Helping hand for the drought affected farmers – MLA, Mukhed hails the efforts:

SSM has been devotedly working for the relief of drought victims and taking up preventive measures in the vicinity for the past 6-8 months in every possible way.  Now that the monsoon is predicted to be hopeful, the marginal farmers have set to work for preparing their fields but economically they are so devastated that they have no money for buying the seeds and fertilizers.
SSM has chosen 1400 farmers from 8 talukas and 25 villages from Nanded district and provided those with seeds and fertilizers free of cost.  The KVK unit of SSM took initiative in executing the relief measures.  The distribution programme was arranged in the auspices of Hon’ble MLA, Mukhed, Dr. Tushar Rathod. The Scientists of KVK have guided the farmers on farm practices, on the occasion.

Clearing Co-operation of india Ltd (CCIL) has loin's share of philanthropy in materializing this human service.

Financial Support to 400 Women-Farmers..

In yet another event of service to the drought affected farmers, SSM has ventured into helping
those communities again. But this time, the beneficiaries are exclusively the women-farmers. The team of SSM has identified the women who practice farming as their livelihood and own very little piece of land, one or two acres. All these women are hard working and responsible members in their families. They tried at their best to pull through the life by utilizing the meager savings at their Self Help Groups but due to continuous drought for the third consecutive year, those women were not in a position to spend for pre-monsoon preparations, seeds and fertilizers any more.

400 such women from various locations, namely village Sagroli(50), Yesgi (30), Kundalwadi & Atkali (12) from Nanded district and another 300 from Latur, Parbhani and Hingoli districts were extended financial support associating with local NGO's for the cost on seed, pesticides and Fertilizers.

As always, Caring Friends, Mumbai had a lion’s share of philanthropy in materializing this human service.

In a finishing touch gesture to the drought preventive measures, SSM has set on the huge plantation programme on the banks of rejuvenated irrigation canals with a preset target of 2 lakh trees. The volunteers of SSM have sown the seeds of various useful, high yielding trees on both the sides of the Siddhappa canal, throughout its length of 6 km.
